Applicant must have a solid background in (Physical) Chemistry, and a strong interest in theory / Computational Chemistry and the average GPA in accordance with 3.3/4.0 (80%) or more in the North American system.

Accounting Scholarships Students will receive financial assistance throughout their course of study (4-5 years) in terms of scholarship or teaching assistance ship. Students will typically spend from 12 months to 18 months of completing course requirements (courses and a half 4 + public inspection in the field of specialization students. Amount and duration of the grant

The Accounting Scholarships grant is CHF 1600 .- per month from 15 July-15. The Accounting Scholarships Faculty selects applications and notifies the SASC of its opinion based on the candidate’s qualities, motivation and suitability for the Master’s programme. The SASC forwards shortlisted applications to the selection committee which will award grants to students meeting all criteria according to the available budget.

Decisions are not open to appeal.

Selection criteria

The Accounting Scholarships grants are intended more particularly for students who distinguished themselves in their university studies and who have difficulty meeting their financial needs for the duration of the Master’s. It is however necessary that the candidates have sufficient financial means to support themselves during the complementary studies that may be required prior to enroll on the Master’s degree.

The Accounting Scholarships candidate will be a multi-agent model of residential mobility, a city in decline. The approach includes a conceptual description, calibration and validation of the model.

The empirical data in the model is being investigated by the Department of Urban and Environmental Sociology UFZ. The modeling work provides information on future housing needs and investment in energy-efficient technologies in housing appreciation.

Accounting Scholarships Applicants must have experience in scientific areas such as social geography, environmental and social modeling, environmental sciences or multi-agent modeling. Today, the lack of industry knowledge, and non-isothermal crystallization of the oil or fat combined with shearing and add other compounds affects the structure and functionality of their products.

We are seeking a qualified graduate student to investigate the relevance dynamic microstructure influence processes, rheology and sensory properties of vegetable oil for use in chocolate and confectionery are looking for. The method of analysis used laser scanning confocal microscopy, rheology, vibration, texture analyzer and pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance analysis.

Qualifications and specific skills
Candidates for the position must have earned a doctoral degree from the corresponding master (or diploma in the very near future - Documentation for the final documents and test date must accompany the application) or equivalent.

Detail:
The National Library of Australia offers annual fellowships to established researchers and writers. Established by the Council of the National Library of Australia in 1983 as the National Library Fellowships, the first Fellows commenced their research at the Library in 1984. The fellowships were renamed in honour of Sir Harold White CBE (1905-1992), the first National Librarian, in 1985.
The fellowships scheme aims to promote the Library as a centre of scholarly activity and research, encourage scholarly and literary use of the Library’s collections and production of publications arising from that scholarship, and to promote the Library’s rich and varied collections.
Four to seven fellowships, of periods from three to six months, are awarded annually.

Eligibility:
Fellowships are open to established Australian and international researchers and creative writers in any discipline in which the Library has strong collections. Successful applicants are generally senior scholars or writers with a strong publication track record, including publication of full length monographs. Fellowships are not intended for post-doctoral or early career researchers. The Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) conducts screening of applicants yearly to identify and develop artistically gifted and talented children by implementing a special secondary education curriculum and support programs to provide the country with a continuing source of artists of excellence and leaders in the conservation and promotion of the Filipino artistic and cultural traditions.

PRIVILEGES

The successful applicant is awarded free tuition fee, board and lodging, classes with master teachers, a monthly stipend, plus the chance to represent the country and the school in international festivals, competitions and exchange programs. The Watershed Hydrology Laboratory (WatHydroLab) has an opening to hire two outstanding MS and/or PhD students. The research program at the WatHydroLab addresses tropical hydrology using a combination of experimental, theoretical and numerical modeling across a wide range of temporal and spatial scales. Potential students will be majoring in one of the following departments/programs* Civil and Environmental Engineering; Geology and Geophysics; Biological Engineering; or Natural Resources and Environmental Management.

Research Topics: The research topic for the assistantship is flexible, but must address one of the main research areas of the WatHydroLab:
i) Understanding the nature of hydrologic variability and change under a changing climate and land cover/land use, in vulnerable ecosystems,
ii) Water, energy, carbon and nitrogen balance: field monitoring and modeling using GIS and Remote Sensing techniques and water resources management,
iii) Evaluate the performance of hydrological models for operational flood forecasting, i.e., SAC-SMA and HL-RDHM
iv) Studying the impact of land based management practices on surface water and coastal areas based on extensive field experiments and numerical watershed models, e.g., DHSVM, AnnAGNPS; and
v) Evaluating and improving environmental monitoring sensors.

Qualifications: BS or MS (in hydrology) in Civil Engineering, Geology, Biological Engineering, Soil and Water Science or related field; strong numerical modeling and/or computing capabilities; course background in programming languages (i.e., C++, VBasic, Java, ArcObject); experience in using hydrological models (i.e., DHSHVM, AnnAGNPS, MODFLOW, Hydrus2D/3D) excellent quantitative background; excellent skills in spatial-temporal data analysis (GIS & GPS); ability to articulate research objectives and hypotheses; good writing and report preparation skills; ability to work as part of a team; field and laboratory experience; and a valid driver license.

Financial support includes:
• A stipend varying between 18,000 and 25,000 per year depending on qualifications and degree sought (MS or PhD)

DAAD Scholarships under Deutschlandkundlicher Winterkurs for Australian and New Zealand

In co-operation with the universities in Essen, Freiburg, Leipzig and the Freie Uni Berlin, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships to participate in a "Deutschlandkundlicher Winterkurs" lasting six weeks from around beginning of January until mid February, in case of Berlin courses last 4 weeks. The program is designed for students and junior faculty with a sound knowledge of German (at least at level B2) and some background in German Studies who are interested in improving their language skills and understanding of contemporary affairs.

The course applies to all Australian and New Zealand undergraduates, graduates and junior faculty members except graduates involved in German and German faculty courses. All lectures in the “Deutschlandkundlicher Winterkurs” are held in German. Upon arrival participants take a written placement test in German, and are divided into groups of 10-15 participants for language instruction accordingly. The programme includes a course of five weeks (German language course, German literature and Modern Cultural Studies of Germany) and one week for a mandatory field study trip (e.g. Bonn/ Berlin/ Weimar) free of charge.

Participants are expected to attend all scheduled classes and activities regularly, and to invest a significant amount of time in homework and class preparation. The course will also include city tours and excursions, as well as visits to museums and other cultural institutions. Students participating in the program are required to take a final examination and receive a certificate upon successful completion of all course requirements. Any questions regarding credit transfer should be directed towards the student’s home institution.

Amount Awarded

Participation in the winter course is limited to DAAD-scholarship holders from Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, South Africa and Namibia. The DAAD scholarship covers a tuition fee allowance of EUR 750 (ca. AUD 1,400), a travel allowance of EUR 1,275 (ca. AUD 2,400) and EUR 975 (ca. AUD 1,800) for living expenses. The amount will be transferred directly to the German home university and is to be paid out to the participants in two to three instalments. In addition participants should plan EUR 250 to EUR 300 (AUD 450 - 500) of their own funds for additional expenses. Students must arrange and pay for the transportation to and from the airport to the respective city. Health insurance will be provided by DAAD.

The call for applications for the 3rd edition of the Master programme on "World Heritage at Work", offered by the University of Turin, the Polytechnic of Turin and the International Training Centre of ILO, in collaboration with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, is now open.

The programme is intended for professionals involved in the management of a World Heritage properties and/or those who are interested in such site activities as well as those who are currently involved in the preservation or promotion of cultural heritage.

Four categories of participants are invited to apply:

■ Officials already involved in projects concerning a WHS, or interested in designing and managing special projects for WHS in the future;
■ Professionals involved with research activities related to improved of the management system of a WHS;
■ Fresh graduates and junior specialists interested and knowledgeable about local cultures and indigenous traditions;
■ NGOs staff and other development officials interested to dialogue both with local authorities and with the community in further promotion and marketing of cultural ideas.
The essential Requirements for admission are a university degree (BA) as well as fluency in the English language.

The course offers a number of special features:

■ integration of theory and practice;
■ an interdisciplinary approach to culture as a resource for development, with emphasis on management of a World Heritagesite or property;
■ emphasis on operational issues in project design and project cycle management;
■ interactive presentations followed by analysis of case studies and close tutoring support

The programme will be held in Turin, Italy, at the campus of the International Training Centre of the ILO and the World heritage Site of Venaria reale.

Coursework takes place at the Centre's compact and functional campus, where participants from around the world meet, live and learn together, in a stimulating international environment. The campus and facilities (bank, post office, travel agency, laundry, gym, sports and recreation facilities) provide an ideal environment for living and studying, sharing experience and creating networks. A 4 weeks component of the programme is delivered at the WHS of Venaria Reale.The tuition fees are EURO 6000.

A number of scholarships are available for deserving participants, especially those from developing and transition countries.

Following interviews held in Annapolis, MD on 5 and 6 February 2010 the Gates Cambridge Trust has awarded 29 Gates Cambridge Scholarships to American students to pursue Masters or PhD degrees at the University of Cambridge from October 2010.

The 29 new Gates Scholars come from a range of US educational institutions and States and will pursue an array of subjects at the University of Cambridge. Short biographies and photos of the successful candidates are available below.

Background information

The University of Cambridge received c.800 applications from new American applicants to pursue graduate study from October 2010. Academic departments in Cambridge ranked a total of about 220 candidates on the basis of their academic merit and the Trust's shortlisting committee reduced this number to just over 100 by applying the four main criteria of the Gates Cambridge Scholarships: intellectual ability, leadership potential, a commitment to improving the lives of others and a good fit with Cambridge. In early February four experienced interview panels - comprising of both academics form Cambridge and American universities - interviewed 104 candidates in Annapolis, MD. After the interviews, the panels selected 29 new American Gates Cambridge Scholars.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme is international in scope: the Trust awards scholarships to candidates from any country outside the United Kingdom. A further round of interviews for candidates from countries other than the USA will be held in late March 2010 to select the remaining 50 of Gates Cambridge Scholars for the October 2010 entry.
